Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya conducted a joint inspection of Islamia Inter College Ground and Jamia-tur-Raza, Mathurapur in CB Ganj on Friday to review preparations for the 108th Urs-e-Ala Hazrat, scheduled to be held from August 6 to 8, 2026.
The senior officials inspected key arrangements at the main Urs venue, including the stage, toilets, drinking water facilities, watch towers, barricading, entry and exit gates, and langar arrangements. Representatives of the Dargah management highlighted issues related to lighting, sanitation, drinking water and sewerage, following which officials assured that the concerns would be addressed promptly.
During the inspection of Jamia-tur-Raza, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure proper barricading around drains and transformers and to maintain adequate sanitation and toilet facilities for devotees and visitors.
Avinash Singh said that the administration had already completed drain cleaning and barricading work, while road repairs, sanitation drives and electricity-related works were nearing completion. He emphasised that pilgrims visiting the Urs should face no inconvenience and should leave Bareilly with a positive experience. To ensure smooth management, the entire event area has been divided into zones, sector zones and sectors, with officials assigned specific responsibilities. He also urged all stakeholders to avoid introducing any new traditions or activities that could disturb communal harmony or hurt public sentiments.
The District Magistrate noted that the administration is simultaneously preparing for several major religious events during the Shravan month, observed from July 30 to August 28, 2026. The calendar includes the four Shravan Mondays on August 3, 10, 17 and 24, Chehallum on August 4, Shravan Shivratri on August 11, Nag Panchami on August 17, and Barawafat on August 26. He said all departments have been placed on alert and officers have been deployed to ensure the peaceful conduct of every event.
Special arrangements have also been made for Kanwar pilgrims travelling from neighbouring districts after collecting holy water from Kachhla Ghat in Badaun. Static magistrates have been deployed at Nath temples, while large resting camps equipped with clean food, drinking water, mobile toilets and medical facilities have been established along major routes. Safety measures, including covering electric poles with protective plastic sheets and barricading transformers, have also been completed.
Highlighting the city’s festive preparations, the District Magistrate said the Bareilly Development Authority has installed decorative entrance gates on major roads connecting the district. Named after prominent Nath temples, the gates have been illuminated and beautified to welcome devotees and visitors.
Additional District Magistrate (City) and Superintendent of Police (City) informed that residents from both communities in mixed-population localities have expressed their willingness to shower flowers on each other’s religious processions, reflecting the city’s tradition of communal harmony. As in previous years, flower petals will also be showered from a helicopter over Nath temples and Kanwar pilgrims as a mark of welcome.
The inspection was attended by Bareilly Development Authority Vice-Chairperson Soumya Pandey, Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Maurya, Additional District Magistrate (City) Avinash Tripathi, Superintendent of Police (City) Manush Pareek, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Mohd. Akmal Khan, City Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Verma, and other senior administrative and police officials.
